Suicidal movement to ta ta to Nano from Singur

31 August 2008 Anil m 2 comments

During last few years, a new chapter has started in the state’s industrialization by Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Chief Minister. Since then the atmosphere of the state started changing. He relentlessly is trying to change the scenario of the state. Inspite of all odds, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee successfully has brought some changes in the scenario of Industrialization of West Bengal. And I think it is just because of his own image to the Industrialists and nothing else helped for such changes. Thats how Tata came here for his Nano factory. Its not that Tatas are not aware of the history and work culture of this state. Despite of all doubts Tata presented the Nano project to this state just because of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. We all should be proud for this project since the Nano car has become an international issue. We should feel lucky that such an international car will be rolling out from our Singur. This will make Singur known to the world.

Today the Nano project at Singur has become uncertain just because of some senseless agitation of Trinamul Congress Party demanding return of 400 acres of land to the farmers. The party which is shedding crocodile’s tears for the farmers, is already known for their suicidal, directionless politics in the state. Its nothing new for the state. The party has got an issue and they want to stick to that for some political gain out of that. They never want anything good for the affected farmers or the state. Had they wanted it , they would have brought the farmers at fore front to dialogue with the state government and resolve the issue of injustice, if any. But they don’t want to resolve it, and their aim is for some narrow political gain out of the situation. We are not bothered for their political gains or games what they are playing, but we are definitely worried for the cost, the state has to pay for their silly politics.

Nano project at Singur has become part of life of many people of Singur today. Young generation, who are in colleges, technical Institutes under going training, of nearby areas have started weaving their dreams with Nano project as many job opportunities are in the pipelines. They are looking forward for the Nano project to complete and secure a job in any company there. They are dreaming of a better life, better environments, better society which will come up with the developments of that area alongwith Nano factory and other ancilliary industries in and around Singur. The Scenario of those villages will totally change in few months. But senseless, suicidal, directionless and selfish politics of Trinamul Congress will shatter all hopes of Industrialization started in the state and this will send a negative message to the world.

The demands of the agitating party, if genuine for the poor farmers, they should have come forward for discussion with a practical, negotiable and compromising solution in the greater interest of the farmers as well as of the state. But it seems to that they want to keep the issue live with an aim to their Vote Bank. If Tata wind up the project, a grave situation will arise in the state and all hopes of industrialization will end here. After that, what will the fate of those 400 acres of land ? If Tata goes from Singur, one good thing will happen that Mamata Banerjee will lose the issue for their senseless politics.

God may help Mamata to understand the greater interest of the people of the state and be wise to protect that. At least she should have some sense to understand that her adamancy and senseless movement going against her and creating sympathy to the ruling party only.

Why Bangalore is a preferred destination for IT MNCs

All building shown here are from the campus of IT giant Infosys at Bangalore, India.

During my one week stay at Bangalore, not done anything to be mentioned except a visit to India’s # 01 IT MNC INFOSYS. It is amazing, impressive to see the campus, at least for me and this inspired me to write this post about the company and as a whole about the city Bangalore. In its huge campus at Electronic City, Bangalore has total 48 buildings as of now and each building is unique in design and different from each other, having different architectural design and look. The campus is having lot of greenery too, neat and clean and well maintained. No car is allowed inside the campus. All cars are to be left at a 6 storied Multi Level car parking building. From there all have to walk down to adjacent campus area. I think, it is unparallel to any company in India with regard to its area, maintenance and architectural designs of its buildings. In fact the company is maintaining its International standard in all respect thinking its International clients.

Bangalore is a preferred city for IT companies, in fact for any industry because the city is trying to maintain its highest standards in all respect and the city is being developed keeping in view of the necessity of the industries. For example, it is worth mentioning here that a flyover of 11 Km long (from Silk board to Electronics city) is under construction only for the Electronics city where most of the IT companies are based. This is in addition to the existing wide metal road. This will help the techies to travel to Electronics City without any interruption by road traffics..

Bangalore has recently got its brand new International Airport. The airport has moved to a distance of 55 KM away from the city. The airport what Bangalore has got today is claimed to be of International standards. The connecting road to Airport from the city is of high standard. The bus services from Airport is also of the International standard as Volvo buses have been introduced from airport to different places of the city. The city is spreading fast, and keeping that in view, the shifting of the Airport to a distance of 55 KM is well justified. In fact this kind of foresight is essential for spreading and developing a city in a country like India. Will our politicians of West Bengal turn their eyes to Bangalore and learn some lessons?

It’s a proud moment for India

It’s a proud moment for India. Abhinav Bindra made every Indian proud by winning India’s first-ever individual Olympic Gold in the men’s  10 metre Air Rifle event in Beijing.

“I sincerely hope my medal changes the face of India’s Olympic sports,” the bespectacled shooter said after winning the gold at the Beijing Shooting Range on Monday.

“For me, life will go on as usual but I sincerely hope Olympic sports get a leg-up. It’s not a priority back home and I hope more focus is paid to these events,” said the shooter from Chandigarh.

“I know India was waiting for this for a long time and so was I. I narrowly missed a medal at Athens so I knew I would be in with a chance if I focussed on the job.”

India, winners of eight field hockey gold medals, had never won an individual Olympic title before Bindra’s feat.

Congratulation Abhinav !! You made us proud.

Global Warming

5 August 2008 Anil m 2 comments

Another World Environment Day passed without noticeable event or change of policy by the Government. Few advertisements came in the newspapers on that day and  that’s all. Next day everybody forgets the importance of World Environment Day.

It is right time to recall the saying of Mahatma Gandhi about the environment of this planet -

The earth, the air, the land and the water are not an inheritance from our fore fathers but on loan from our children. So we have to handover to them at least as it was handed over to us.”

The condition of the Earth has already been considerably changed in the last few decades and obviously we are not in a position to hand it over it to our children as it was received by us. We the most intelligent specie on this planet, are heading for self-destruction due to our own misdeeds like destruction of nature, pollution of air & water and over population. Our every activity is against the nature. All these activities resulted Global climate change, rise in temperature i.e. Global warming.

Main causes of Global warming :

(a) CO2 emission is the main culprit of Global Warming. Burning of Fossil fuels (Oil, natural gas and Coal) is the main source of emission of CO2 into the atmosphere. These fossil fuels contain carbon, and when they are burnt, they combine with oxygen, forming carbon dioxide. Thus the burning of Fossil fuels, while running cars, vehicles and power stations while generating electricity, is the main source of emission of CO2 into the atmosphere. More than 80% of the worldwide energy demand is currently supplied by the fossil fuels.

(b) Deforestation of the planet is another cause of increase of CO2 levels. We know plants inhale CO2 and exhale Oxygen by its natural photosynthesis process. Due to deforestation, cutting trees in the city, this process is not much effective and as a result CO2 escape to atmosphere instead of being converted into Oxygen through plants’ photosynthesis. Therefore deforestation and forest fire contribute to an increase in CO2 level.

How Global warming occurs :

The Sun’s rays pass through Earth’s atmosphere; much of this energy is absorbed by the surface and atmosphere and some of it is reflected back towards space as infrared radiation (heat). Greenhouse gases ( Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Neon, Helium, Methane, Hydrogen, Nitrous Oxide and Ozone) present at atmosphere absorb this infrared radiation and trap the heat in the atmosphere causing Greenhouse effect and resulting into Global warming.

Effect of Global warming :

The continued increase in temperature will scientifically lessen the snow cap, create a rise in sea level, and produce weather changes. The combination of the effects of global warming will cause a change in the ecosystems. This change can potentially force animals out of their habitats endangering their existence and possibly even forcing them into extinction, while some animals may flourish. Impacts on the human level include financial matters and the spread of disease.

Prevent the cause of Global Warming :

Now that you know what is global warming. The next would be how to prevent it? There are simple things that an individual can contribute towards decrease the causes and effects of global warming.

The world’s electricity is produced mainly on burning of coal (in case of thermal power), so one should always try to use electricity as less as possible. By simply decreasing the usage of electricity, one is not only helping reducing the global warming problem but also breathing in cleaner air and saving money. To achieve this to some extent, avoid running AC un-necessarily as a matter of habit. You may change the incandescent lamps with CFL lamps in your house.

Secondly reduction of usage of one’s car by joining a carpool or using public transport system. Alternatively fuel-efficient cars may be used. This will not only help in the reduction of greenhouse gas emission (CO2) but is also saving money on parts, repairs, gas, and oil.

Trees to be saved and cutting or trimming to be stopped. Plantation of trees should be done in a big way every year, in a planned manner. Awareness to the importance of trees to combat Global Warming should be spread to the society.

Paris based political scientist Susan George, one of Europe’s best known public intellectuals, said during her recent visit to India : “We can reverse poverty, but not global warming”.
