A wise decision of Taslima

photocms.jpg

It is a wise decision of Taslima Nasreen, the Bangladeshi feminist writer to end the controversy by deleting or withdrawing those controversial contents of her Book “Dwikhandita”. Nothing would be better than this for a peaceful solution to save the situation being faced by herself as well as the Government of India. On Friday 30th Nov 2007, she said :

“I am withdrawing controversial lines in ‘Dwikhandita’, written in 2002 with the memory of Bangladesh in the 1980s when military threw out secularism in the country. I wrote the book in support of the people who defended secular values. I had no intention to hurt anybody’s sentiment”.

“Now since some people in India claim that it hurt their sentiments, I am withdrawing some lines in the book,” Taslima said.

She hoped from now on, there would be no controversy and “I’ll be able to live peacefully in this country.” She had already asked her publisher not to circulate copies of the book which were in their possession and she said : “I asked my publisher to bring out the next edition of the book deleting those controversial lines”.

Taslima speaks, writes in our language which makes us feel her very close to us and never feel her as “Bangladeshi”. She too loves Kolkata very much, there is no doubt in it. We expect that Taslima should live in India like an Indian, harmoniously having moulded herself in Indian traditions and cultures. Lets hope that she would be forgiven and welcome by all section of people of India since she has reconciled herself.

Another reason why men like Curvy women

It is a known fact that curvaceous women live longer and that men find them more attractive but the new research suggests that they are also cleverer and give birth to brainier children.

According to a new study by Scientists, found that the women with a curvy figure are brighter and give birth to brainier kids. That’s why the men find curvaceous women more attractive?

The study also discovered that curvaceous women give birth to more intelligent children because hip fat contains polyunsaturated fatty acids (Omega-3) critical for the development of the fetus’s brain. They suggest that the fat around fuller hips and thighs contains higher levels of Omega3 fatty acids, which are essential for the growth of the brain during pregnancy.

The researchers believe that the results shed light on why many men find curvy women more alluring. Researchers found that those women with a greater difference between the waist and hips scored considerably higher on the tests, as did their children. The researchers say that the ideal ratio for an intelligent curvy woman lies between 0.6 and 0.7.

The team said that their findings may also explain why children born to teenage mothers do worse in cognitive tests – because their mothers may have had deficient stores of the best fatty acids. The study noted, however, that children born to teenage girls with traditional hourglass figures seemed to be protected from this phenomenon and fared better in tests.

Several scientific studies have shown that men find women with a greater waist-hip differential the most attractive. However, no study so far has yet been able to elucidate this.

So far, it was not known that Omega-3 fatty acids are stored under the ‘curves’ of the women. man too never knew why they are attracted so much to curvier women. Nature guides us correctly, for right kind of things in life. The secret is out now, so select a curvy life partner for brighter kids and the girls, you too try to be curvy for being mom of brainy children tomorrow.

Have your say- are the curvier women really more intelligent?

The status of women and plight of girl child in India

Once the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru said, “you can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the status of its women”. It is a fact that the social condition of women of any nation is a pointer to the level of development of that nation.
draupadi-small-1.jpgThe story of Indian women is as old as the history of Indian civilization. In ancient times Aryans were the main inhabitant of India. These people were mainly Brahmins and they used to give the status of goddess to the women. Lakshmi, Durga and Saraswati were the Goddess which the women were honoured to. In a Sanskrit sloka it says about women that ‘Yatra Naryastu Pujyante, Ramante Tatra Devta‘ – where woman are worshiped, God resides. So that was the social status of women in the Vedic era in India.

damayanti1.jpgIn the post Vedic era, the status of women began to decline with time. Gender inequality started creeping into the society. But the status of women started declining due change in the society and mixing up of other foreign cultures with the Indian cultures,as a result of many foreign invaders. These invaders came to India with their own culture with them. Invaders were the rulers for many years, which made the Aryan cultures totally lost or changed. As foreigner, having no respect to the women, their main aim was looting the wealth and enjoying beautiful women. As polygamy was a norm for these invaders they kept them in their “harems” for fulfilling their lust. This type of disrespectful treatment towards women were spread in the society and slowly crept into the minds of Indian people and they also began to treat their own women in the similar manners. This changes in the society declined the status of women in the society.

Shakuntala a character of epic Mahabharat

The foreign invaders are no more ruling the country, but the degrading of status of women is still continuing in some form or the other. It has come to the girl child and the plight of a girl child starts before she sees the light of this beautiful world. They are not allowed to reach to womanhood. In some parts of India, in the society where illiteracy and superstitions prevails, the girl childs are killed before they are born. The technological development has become the curse in this case or you can say the misuse of technology. It is an universal test during pregnancy but nowhere like India the girl fetuses are killed. Otherwise also in some parts of India, birth of a girl child still considered to be a curse and burden (due to dowry). So there are plenty of instances of killing girl childs as soon as they were born. National census statistics (2001) shows that a child sex ratio of 927 girls per 1,000 boys. (news in Times of India dated 08 Oct 2007)

11045.jpgWe should break age-old myth that a daughter is no longera curse and a burden to the parents. If a daughter is given a proper education, she will never be less than a son. They who prefer son should know that -

“A son is a son till he gets a wife,

but a daughter is a daughter for life”.

Daughters are future mothers who helps God’s system of continuing species on this planet. Without a womb, birth of human being cannot be possible in the natural way. It is God’s wish, and God created women. Who are we to go against God, against nature ?

In a family, girl childs are like flowers in the garden, they just radiates fragrance, the beauty. They are the companions, they are the passionate lovers, they are the loving wives, they are the lovely home makers, they are the affectionate mothers, they are the Goddess, Goddess Lakshmi (Means Goddess of wealth).
